12. Remove the top clutch bearing retainer which is secured by two or three countersunk socket head

screws.

13. Remove the three hex bolts securing each pinion idler pad to the top plate of the tong.

14. Remove the nylock nuts and pads for the rotary and pinion idler gears.

15. Remove the inspection plate at the rear side of the tong. Disconnect shifting shaft from shifting

fork.

16. Remove shifter assembly.

17. Remove the 3/8" socket head cap screws around the perimeter of the tong.

18. The top tong plate can be lifted off providing access to the inside of the gear case.
